Cthylla: The Key Piece

Cthylla, Cthulhu’s daughter, is in many ways like him and important to him. Cthylla is also an octopus like creature that has a couple conflicting descriptions. In Tina L. Jens’ story “In His Daughter’s Darkling Womb” Cthylla is described to be a gigantic, red-bodied, black-ringed, and six-eyed octopus with small wings. despite this description no art/image of her i have been able to find actually depicts her as “red-bodied” they all show her skin, if you can call it that, as being a pale white.

Aside from her appearance Cthylla is most definitely important to Cthulhu. According to multiple stories Cthylla is fated to literally give birth to Cthulhu, her father, after he is destroyed in the distant future. This simple fact prompted Cthulhu to have Cthylla constantly guarded by many Yugga and deep ones, and she is currently residing in Yhe here on earth.

She sadly is a very minimal character seeing as she was created after H.P. Lovecraft passed, but this blog is dedicated to the mythos not Lovecraft’s work. The Mythos Just happens to be largely created by Lovecraft.
